Karen Romero Reeves, Cheer Director & Instructor
Karen has studied dance and cheerleading for more than fifteen years.  She began dancing at Frances Armstrong School of Dance and later
trained at The Dance Center.  Karen has studied under Frances Armstrong and Shane Martin
.  For six years she was a cheerleader with Hoover
City Schools and attended American Cheer Center.    While in High School, Karen was a member of the Hoover Varsity Cheerleading Squad
and was selected as a member of the Hoover Competitive Cheer Squad.  She was also named Most Valuable Cheerleader by Hoover High
School her senior year.  As a cheerleader and dancer she has competed in many competitions and has won numerous first place ribbons and
trophies.  Karen auditioned for and was chosen to be a member of the Universal Cheerleading Associations All-Star Team and was selected to
perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.  Karen has performed at many high profile events and parades throughout
the state as well as at special events at Auburn University.  She has made numerous television appearances and has performed during many
news broadcasts.  She has also been interviewed by many radio stations in the Birmingham area.  Her choreography credits include producing
routines for cheerleading auditions and cheer performances.  Karen has also volunteered her choreography and cheer skills to various youth
cheerleading programs in the Birmingham and Shelby County areas.  She has extensive fitness experience and was employed at World's Gym
in Auburn for three years.  She has four years of experience teaching cheerleading skills for elementary through high school aged students.  
Karen is a graduate of Auburn University and resides in Hoover.
Alicia Wilbanks, Co-Director & Instructor
Alicia began taking dance classes at Helena Hosch Dance Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana.  In Birmingham she studied with Frances Armstrong
School of Dance, The Dance Center and Birmingham Dance Theater.  Alicia has experience as a competitive gymnast and was a member of the Full
Tilt and Expressions of Faith dance companies.  Alicia was a member of the Berry/Hoover High School Buccanettes where she served as captain for two
years and was named Most Outstanding Performer by the All-Star Dance Association.  Alicia performed for the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, the
Sugar Bowl and many other college and professional football halftime shows.  She performed in Disney World, Florida, Jackson Square in New Orleans
and was a choreographer and performer for many productions while at Auburn University.  Alicia was chosen to perform for Princess Diana at the Covent
Gardens in London, England, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and in the New Year's Day parade in Paris, France.  Alicia
auditioned for and was selected to the All Star Dance Team with the Universal Dance Association.  While at Auburn, she trained with GymKana and the
Tiger Pause dance team and completed numerous courses in dance and fitness.  She served as the Summer Quest Cheerleading Coordinator for Hunter
Street Baptist Church for three years and has experience coaching youth cheerleading squads.  These combined dance and fitness backgrounds helped
to further Alicia's belief in the "conditioned dancer".  She has taught group fitness classes at several health clubs throughout Hoover including classes in
Step Aerobics, Hi/Lo, Body Sculpting, Pilates, Circuit Training and Hip Hop.  She has trained clients from ages 13 to 65 of various fitness levels and has
studied the works of Joseph Pilates and Eric Franklin.  As a fitness competitor she was named "Alabama State Fitness Champion" by the National
Physique Committee.  She holds a Group Fitness Instructor certification with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, is a Certified Personal
Fitness Instructor, a Certified Pilates Instructor and is CPR certified.  She and her husband, Wes reside in Bluff Park with their three children.
Kristi Romero Weaver, Co-Director & Instructor
Kristi began her dance training in New Orleans, Louisiana at Jean Shane Patrick Academy with Karen Hebert and continued training with Helena Hosch
School of Dance.  In her nearly thirty years of dance training she has studied under Gus Giordano, Al Gilbert, Frank Hatchett, Janice Barringer, Frances
Armstrong and other top instructors throughout the country.  Kristi has competed in and attended many seminars throughout Alabama, Georgia and
Louisiana, including Dance Masters of America, Professional Dance Teachers of America and Dance Educators of America.  She was awarded a
prestigious scholarship to Gus Giordano's dance school in Chicago, IL.  Kristi has experience as a competitive gymnast and cheerleader.  She was also a
member of the Buccanettes dance team and was asked to return to Berry/Hoover High School as a choreographer and guest instructor for the
Buccanettes.  Many of her works won local and regional competitions and were featured in halftime performances in football and basketball.  Kristi's
choreography credits also include pieces for the Miss Alabama Pageant and competitor's talent pieces for various pageants throughout the state.  While
pursuing her undergraduate degree in dance at the University of Montevallo, Kristi taught dance and tumbling classes at Joy's Dance Company in
Alabaster. She also taught classes at Frances Armstrong Dance School and later at The Dance Center where she served as Co-Director for five years.  She
has taught all levels of dance from preschool through advanced in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and tumbling.  Her students have performed in Walt
Disney World, professional and college football halftime shows, in pageants throughout the United States of America including Alaska and in the
Bahamas.  Past and present members of the Auburn University Tiger Eyes Dance Ensemble, Hoover Buccanettes, Hoover Varsity Cheerleading Squad,
Universal Dance Association All Star Dance Team, the University of Kentucky Dance Team and the Denver Broncos Cheerleading Squad can trace their
love of dance back to Kristi.  She and her husband, Jason currently reside in Bluff Park with their three children.  
Britt Patterson, Cheer Instructor
Britt has studied dance and cheerleading for more than seventeen years.  She began dancing at 3
years old with Dale Serrano’s Studio of Professional Arts.  She was a Hoover Raiders Cheerleader for
two years and she studied gymnastics with Gym 1 Gymnastics for six years. She cheered for Hoover
City Schools for six years as a Simmons Middle School Cheerleader, Berry High School Cheerleader
and a member of the Hoover Varsity Cheerleading Squad.  She has performed at many high profile
events and parades throughout the state as well as at special events throughout Hoover.  She was
named UCA Jump Off Camp Champion while at Hoover High School and received a UCA Instructor
Bid.  Britt was a UCA Cheer Instructor for two years and served as a Regional Competition Judge.  She
was a University of Alabama Cheerleader and a member of the University of Alabama Crimson
Cabaret Dance Team.  While at Alabama, Britt studied under renowned instructor & choreographer,
Cornelius Carter.   Britt has six years of experience teaching cheerleading for elementary through high
school aged students as an instructor with Gym 1 and UCA.  She is a choreographer for Simmons
Middle School Dance Team and a graduate of the University of Alabama.  Britt is married to Jarrod
and they have two beautiful sons.
Jasmine Davis, Hip Hop & Jazz Instructor
Jasmine has studied the art of dance for over 10 years.  She began her training at Bobbies Dance
Center and later trained at Shannon’s Southern Sensations Dance Studio in Huntsville, Alabama
where she competed in many competitions all across the south.  Jasmine was a member of the
National Award winning Sparkman High School dance team where they were awarded National
Hip Hop Champions at NDA competition for 3 consecutive years.  Jasmine also had the opportunity
to take master classes from Sabra Johnson and Nick Lazzarini from So You Think You Can Dance.  
Jasmine auditioned for and was chosen to be a UDA All Star Dancer and performed at Disney’s
Magic Kingdom and in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  She has choreographed dance
pieces and judged auditions for several schools in Birmingham such as Thompson High School,
Hoover High School, Gardendale High School and Oak Mountain.  Jasmine is currently pursuing a
bachelor’s degree in psychology at UAB and is a member of the UAB Golden Girls Dance Team.
Hayley Kisiel, Ballet & Pointe Instructor
Hayley began her dance training at Ballet Arts
in Arizona.  There she received extensive
training for 7 years in ballet, jazz and tap from
teachers from the Cleveland Ballet, Tokyo
Ballet and Ballet Met.  Hayley has danced
professionally with Ballet Tuscon and the
Alabama Ballet.  Her performance highlights
include roles in Balanchine’s Nutcracker,
Serenade and Stars and Stripes.  She also
performed in Swan Lake, Pequita, Giselle,
Dracula and Firebird among others.  Hayley has
been teaching students for 5 years at dance
schools in both Alabama and Arizona.  She is
currently in nursing school at UAB.  
Heather Brizendine, Cheer Instructor
Heather has been involved in cheerleading for more than fifteen years.  This is her third year with Studio 1 as a Cheernastics
instructor.  Heather began her training at Gym 1 and continued through high school at Alabama Cheerleading Center.  She
has trained under Brittan Blackburn, former Auburn Cheerleader, as well as Shane Martin. Heather cheered in the Hoover City
School system for 6 years and was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading squad at Hoover High School. Heather was chosen as
captain of her freshman squad and was named Captain of the HHS Varsity Cheerleading Squad her senior year. She received
a bid to try out for a position as a Universal Cheerleading Association staff member and was also selected as a UCA All Star.  
She tried out and was offered a position on staff where she worked as a UCA Cheer Instructor for three years. Heather has
traveled all around the Southeast choreographing and teaching cheerleading skills to students of all ages. During college,
Heather choreographed Varsity and Junior Varsity routines for a high school near Auburn where she trained them for successful
competitions for two years.  She has experience judging cheerleading tryouts in the state of Alabama for all ages and has
worked with many individuals preparing and training them for tryouts. She has been working in cheerleading with girls from
elementary to high school ages for over eight years. Heather graduated from Auburn University and resides in Hoover with her
husband, David, and their adorable daughter.
Katie Yeary, Ballet & Jazz Instructor
Katie is a graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts
dance department. She was trained by Dame Sonia Arova
and Thor Sutowski.  She has danced professionally with
the Alabama Ballet, San Diego Ballet, and the Colorado
Ballet. She has performed as Clara, Snowflake, and in
Chinese variation, Waltz of the Flowers in the Nutcracker,
as Baby Cygnet in Swan Lake, and Waltz couple in
Cinderella.  Katie has been teaching children both during
and after her dance career in ballet, jazz and
contemporary.  She hopes to inspire her students to love
and appreciate the art of dance.  Katie resides in
Birmingham with her husband and her precious little boy.
Marcie Smith, Receptionist & Substitute Instructor
Marcie began her love of dance at the age of 2 when she first began
performing with Dale Serrano’s Studio of Professional Arts.  For two of the
sixteen years she danced there, Marcie also performed with Encore
Competition Team under the direction of Dalana Serrano Moore.  Performing
in national competitions and participating in dance workshop intensives such
as DanceAmerica and other local competitions, Marcie has won national tap
awards as well as hip hop, jazz and production awards with her Encore team.  
She also taught various dance styles for three years at Dale Serrano’s Studio of
Professional Arts during college and has judged competitive dance tryouts
locally.  She is currently a student at Birmingham-Southern College studying
both business and dance.
